Wedding story of Georgie and Nic

October 30, 2023

Georgie & Nic had a timeless wedding ceremony at the Old Marylebone town hall, followed by a seamless transition to an intimate reception at a charming and picturesque restaurant. Continue reading to discover the personal details the newlyweds incorporated into their elegant ceremony and the bride's valuable tips.

What was the main idea of your wedding?

The main idea for our wedding was for it to be timeless but trendy.

Please tell us a little bit about your location for the wedding. Why did you and your husband choose it?

Our wedding ceremony was at the Old Marylebone town hall in Central London. We loved the huge columns, and arched alcoves and the cream coloring of the town hall is just stunning and so timeless, we just knew that was where we could see ourselves getting married.

We also knew we didn’t want a massive ceremony so the town hall was perfect for what we wanted, We only had 20 guests inside and then 30 guests outside the town hall waiting for us on the steps.

After the ceremony, the 50 of us then made our way to our reception venue, Home Marylebone, which is a bar & natural kitchen.

It’s a beautiful intimate venue with amazing floral details inside and out, it was perfect for the relaxed vibe we were looking for. Here we had our speeches and, a delicious wedding breakfast with a quick turnaround. A few hours later the DJ arrived, and our evening guests and we partied the night away.

Were there personal touches in the decor or ceremony? Perhaps you can recall some details that are important to you.

We were so lucky that our ceremony venue and our reception venue already had so much character that we didn’t have to do so much “decorating”. One of the things that we definitely wanted was a champagne tower, we chose to do this rather than a cake and I’m so glad we did!

We also had some beautiful vases and flowers on the tables at Home Marylebone from The Bloomery (our florist). She also created my and my beautiful bridesmaids' amazing bouquets and Groom and groomsmen’s buttonholes.

A few other personal touches for the reception were our personalized guest menus, welcome sign with our names on, also our favors with our dogs' faces on, we really wanted them to be a part of a special day so to have sweets with them on the front saying “we do too”. Having them on our tables made sure they were there even if they couldn’t physically be there.

We also provided a basket with beer and Prosecco outside the town hall for the guests who were waiting on the steps for us. I’m so glad we did this, everyone said how much fun this was and it connected those who didn’t know each other!

Three tips for brides-to-be

1. My top tip is don’t stress about the isle walk, I was petrified hence having such a small ceremony but honestly, as soon as you see you’re husband-to-be your fear will disappear instantly.

2. My second tip would be to try and prepare every little detail a couple of days before so you can have some downtime before the big day.

3. The third would be to take a step back in the day and just take it all in, it goes by so fast and you’ll want to remember every little detail.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

I think our most memorable part of the day is seeing each other for the first time at the end of the aisle, you honestly do forget about everyone else in the room.

Our second most memorable part was walking out of the town hall to all the other guests with confetti in hand who had traveled from all over to celebrate with us!

Were there any unexpected challenges or surprises in the planning process or the wedding itself? How did you overcome them?

I think our main challenge was organizing the whole day in 2 months. We got engaged in May and married in July. We knew we didn’t want to wait years to get married so we thought ‘why not’, let’s pick a date and go for it! And we’re so glad we did.

We already had a vision of what we wanted and had talked about it for a while but bringing it all to life in such a short amount of time was hard work but so much fun at the same time.

We will be happy to hear about your experience with Milla Nova. Where and under what circumstances did you find the dress? Was it love at first sight? Tell us everything!

My Cora dress! I stumbled across her on Pinterest and made it my mission to find her, baring in mind we had 2 months to plan the whole day

I could only buy the dress off the hanger as there was just not enough time to have the dress made for me.

My mum and I called around so many bridal shops to try and find the size I needed and unfortunately, nobody had it.

We then called Little London Brides who had just received the Cora dress, in only 1 size bigger than I needed, so we went to pick her up and I found an amazing bridal seamstress to make it fit me perfectly!

I was so happy with how it made me feel and I got so many compliments on it, I also loved the fact that I could pop the sleeves off in the evening, literally. I think it was the perfect dress for our venue and I’m still obsessed, I would wear it all over again.
