WEDDING STORY OF MIA AND TYLER

November 27, 2023

Mia & Tyler experienced an elegant and classy wedding at the century-old lakefront mansion that immortalized the endless summer feel. Read on to discover bride-to-bride tips and get some bursts of inspiration for your own wedding.

Please tell us a little bit about your location for the wedding. Why did you and your husband choose it?

We chose the Shoreby Club because it checked all of our boxes. It was local, it had that classic, timeless feel that felt very "us", all with an amazing water view. My husband pretty much grew up on the water so having that detail was extremely important to us. We loved the mansion and the property itself was just gorgeous.
I've always been a sucker for tented weddings so to have all of that PLUS a tented reception? It was a done deal.

What was the main idea of your wedding?

The vibe of our ceremony was both classic and modern with an east coast, airy, summertime feel. We wanted tons of whites and greens to really compliment the beautiful lake-front property.

The reception was an absolute party. I put together the playlists so that we were able to hear our favorite songs that would get our guests to the hype and out on the dance floor. We almost wanted it to feel like a club instead of a typical wedding reception and I think we accomplished that.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

As a couple, the most memorable part of the day was finally seeing each other at the end of the aisle. We didn't do a first look so I was so excited to finally see one another.
Our ceremony itself was exactly what we wanted as well. Our officiant is one of Ty's childhood best friends and over the years has become a good friend of mine as well, so he really knows us as a couple which made the ceremony so special.
The other most memorable part was getting ready with all of our best friends before the wedding. My girls and I had the funnest slumber party and getting ready in the morning was so fun. Sheet masks and ice rollers were flying everywhere!

Tips for couples who are planning their wedding

1. Hire a wedding planner. Our planner, Allison Cross, was incredible. There was not one hiccup on our wedding day and it's all thanks to her. A wedding planner will take care of any issue before you even know that there is an issue. Trust me, hire a good planner!

2. If you find a vendor you love, book them right away, don't wait!

3. Don't let the small details get in the way of the big picture. At the end of the day you're marrying the love of your life and your day will be perfect no matter what!

4. Hold your spouse's hand all night long. So many people told us that they barely even saw their spouse during the wedding! We made sure we were together all night by holding hands as much as possible.

Tips for brides-to-be

1. Right before you come down the aisle, take a pause and really take in the moment. Also, walk slowly and carry your bouquet low to show off your beautiful dress!

2. Pack an extra pair of heels for the reception. As much as I loved my ceremony heels, I was so glad I packed an extra pair of comfy heels that I could dance all night long in.

3. Don't be afraid to speak up! This is your wedding, so if there's a detail you don't like, something isn't fitting quite right, or whatever it may be, speak up and don't feel bad about it!

We will be happy to hear about your experience with Florina gown!

My ceremony gown was a dream. I truly wanted that Cinderella, princess moment and that's exactly how I felt in it. The train was my favorite part! It had the drama and elegance that I was looking for and it was a dream to be able to wear it!
